Business Resource: Blazing Trails

Occasionally I seek out Guest Contributors who have interesting business stories that will be helpful for nurses who are either starting or growing their business.

In light of all that is happening, these experiences are even more timely for ALL who may be re-evaluating new ways to show up as a leader and re-connect with their audience.

As always, I have not worked directly with many of the Guest I feature.

I simply share Business stories with this one hope :

That you will reach out to the Guest Contributor, learn more about how they help people, and then go from there!

About our Guest Contributor

Daniela Gilet MS. MCSA, LSSYB one of the multi-talented humans who has a day job AND is a business owner.

Daniela comes to The Business of Nursing Blog, as the founder, host, and executive producer of The Life & Business Trailblazer Podcast, a community for creatives and innovators desiring to forge a new trail for their life and business. Daniela believes that every individual should get equipped with practical skills and tools that can be leveraged for that individual's personal and professional success, creating this ecosystem for people desiring to experience an amplified life.

Tell us, how do you help people?

Being an entrepreneur while working a full-time role is cumbersome and overwhelming. Your personal life, to some degree, struggles because you are making sure your business grows and stays afloat, and anxiety and stress can also be heightened.

The Life & Business Trailblazer Podcast provides easy to digest resources on starting, growing, and connecting your business with your audience.

Legacy Republik is my latest initiative that assists others in amplifying their professional strengths to secure the role of their dreams. My several passion projects reaches out to those who want to experience an enhanced life.

When did you first see this problem as one that needed to be solved?

I've seen the challenges ever since I was in high school, many people don't have guidance and are honestly lost. I've seem to find my way and want to provide people with the structure and direction that they need to be successful. Success is subjective.

What makes YOU stand out from others who may solve similar problems?

My connection to my community, my purpose in serving others with every fiber of my being, and the desire to see other succeed and build legacy for themselves and their family.

Some say, "It's not what you know, it's about who you know." In terms of developing business relationships, do you agree with that statement? Please explain your rationale.

I believe that its about what you know ABOUT who you know AND who knows about you.

While it is great to build a social community, but it has to be authentic and have a two-way relationship where both parties contribute to each other's lives.

Tell us about your transition. What was the process of moving away from a traditional role into a business role?

Although I am not a nurse, my dream was to become a physician. I knew it was time to start a few passion projects when my thoughts about them became amplified, the more projects I rolled out, the more ideas that followed on how I can advance and empower. Also, reading rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki made a difference in how I view money. It is merely a tool for me, but the fulfillment is a result of how I make people feel.

What has been the hardest thing in starting in your specific type of business or job role?

Marketing, and time. I've been able to connect with some amazing people and that drives me to continue what I am doing now. I am learning how to pace myself and grow on what I know. Application of what you know is also key.

What has been the most rewarding thing about being in your business or job role?

Serving my clients, and empowering them to think big and build with others. There's an African proverb that says: if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far go together.

What would you say are the five important resources (books, conferences, associations) for a nurse who wants to explore innovation and design?

I LOVE reading and have so many book recommendations. It’s difficult to narrow it down. These aren’t nurse-specific, but in addition to the two books I mentioned a few questions ago, I recommend reading

  1. The 4 hour workweek by Tim Ferris T

  2. he 7 laws of spiritual success by Dr. Deepak Chopra

  3. Health Information and Management Systems Society(HIMSS)

  4. National Association for Health Service Executives(NAHSE)

  5. The 22 immutable laws of marketing by Al Ries and Jack Trout

Who supported you during this transition? Did you have paid mentorship or coaching? If so, what made you make that investment in paid support?

My husband, mentors, and friends supported every eccentric idea that I proposed and launched. Receiving support on any initiative will always make it feel worthwhile, you need a support system a group of people who will cheer you on from the sides lines. A community also supports your emotional well being because when things go astray which it will they will always be there to catch you.

Is there any way to give readers a small taste of what it is like working with you?

Absolutely, devise a mind map for your career and life be intentional about who you want to become and where you want to go. Make honest connections with people by reaching out via LinkedIn or Facebook. Read books on personal development. Lastly, act on your ideas, do research of course, but if you are talented in something whether its baking pies or sewing garments start it.

Is there anything else you would like readers to know?

We ALL need help to get to the next level. This help is valuable and, many times, is NOT free. Please share why it was important to invest in yourself.

Amelia felt invisible in her role as a registered nurse and chose to learn how to use social media for something beyond watching cat videos.

Now alongside other hats, Amelia elevates the voice of nurses and helps her clients get booked as guest experts on live videos, podcasts and/or virtual conferences so that they can grow their audience without feeling the need to “overshare” or document their entire lives on social media.

When she is not slaying obscurity you can find her planning real and imagined food tours.
